A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives formed to carry out the administrative functions of Panchayati Raj institutions. In the case of a Grama Panchayat, it is the main committee responsible for implementing the decisions of the Gram Sabha and managing day-to-day governance.Main Components of a Panchayat1. History of Grama Panchayat

During the reign of the Kulasekhara kings, the kingdom was divided into 18 regions, one of which was Vembala Nadu. Neendoor was a part of this region and later became part of the Vadakkumkoor kingdom after the Chera–Chola wars fragmented the Chera Empire in the 11th century. Located along the stretches of the Vedagiri hills, the area witnessed several conflicts between the rulers of Vadakkumkoor and Thekkumkoor. Historical remains found near Kuthirakkattukunnu suggest the existence of a royal palace, temple, and fortifications belonging to the Vadakkumkoor kings. Until the 15th century, Neendoor remained under Vadakkumkoor rule before being integrated into Travancore by King Marthanda Varma.
