Grievance Redressal Mechanisms

The public can submit complaints to the Panchayat in person, online, by telephone, or in writing.

1. Panchayat Front Office

Complaints can be submitted directly at the Front Office of the Panchayat.

2. Panchayat Secretary

The Secretary takes appropriate action based on the nature of the complaint.

3. Gram Sabha

Complaints and suggestions related to development, welfare, and public amenities can be presented during Gram Sabha meetings.

The recommendations of the Gram Sabha are considered by the Panchayat.

4. Panchayat Committee

Members of the public can bring complaints to the attention of the Panchayat Committee through elected Panchayat members.

Matters requiring consideration are discussed and decisions are taken in committee meetings.

5. Public Grievance Redressal Programmes

Complaints can be submitted during public grievance redressal programmes conducted under the leadership of the President and Panchayat members.

Prompt action is taken in urgent matters.

6. Right to Information (RTI)

In cases where information is not made available, an application can be submitted under the Right to Information Act.

The required information is provided through the Public Information Officer (PIO).

7. Online Grievance Redressal System

Complaints can be submitted through the online portals of the Local Self Government Department and the Government of Kerala.

Service-related complaints can also be tracked online.

8. Vigilance & Ombudsman

Complaints relating to corruption, irregularities, and abuse of power can be submitted to:

  • Ombudsman for Local Self Government Institutions
  • Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau

9. District-Level Grievance Redressal

If a complaint cannot be resolved at the Panchayat level, the complainant may approach:

  • Deputy Director of Panchayats
  • District Collector

Grievance Redressal Procedure

  1. Receipt of the complaint.
  2. Registration of the complaint.
  3. Forwarding the complaint to the concerned section.
  4. Examination and inquiry.
  5. Taking remedial action.
  6. Informing the complainant about the action taken.
  7. Appeal or further action, if necessary.
