Pension Details

The current framework and details of the Social Security Pension Schemes implemented through the Local Self Government Department of the Government of Kerala are given below.

Major Pension Schemes

There are five major social security pension schemes currently available in Kerala:

  • Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension: Provided to economically disadvantaged senior citizens aged 60 years and above.

  • Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension: Financial assistance provided to economically disadvantaged widows and women who have been deserted by their husbands.

  • Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension: Pension provided to persons facing physical or mental disabilities with a disability of 40% or more.

  • Agricultural Workers' Pension: Provided to agricultural workers who have attained the age of 60 years.

  • Pension for Unmarried Women Above 50 Years of Age: A social security scheme aimed at ensuring financial and social security for economically disadvantaged unmarried women aged 50 years and above.
